As an introduction to our History unit First Contact, the Year 4 classes visited Kings Park on an excursion.
The students participated in the program ‘From Firesticks to Fireworks’, which gave insight into the history of Kings Park and aboriginal life and culture, including the first Nyoongar people and the early European explorers. Students created a journey stick in Nyoongar style to track the story of their visit to the park.
Each class also visited the Rio Tinto Naturescape, where they were able to contribute to a group wildlife craft creation and then spend time exploring the natural bush surroundings. A great day was enjoyed by everybody!
