The Year 2 students recently enjoyed an excursion to Scitech as part of this term’s Science focus on push and pull forces.
Students and teachers marvelled at things that glow, sent messages using air pressure, watched balloons explode and covered their ears as liquid nitrogen exploded foam balls into the air.
As part of the excursion, students also identified push and pull forces amongst the exhibits and saw how certain substances can glow under ultra-violet light. The many wonderful, hands-on experiences (such as watching a colony of bees at work in their hive) got students and teachers thinking deeply and scientifically about God’s creation.
When asked about their favourite experience, students said:
“Lifting myself up in the chair”- Bella Sylvester
“Sending messages in the tube”- Lochlan Cowton
“Pushing the shapes on the air hockey table”- Zach Oorschot
“All of it!“ – Koby Bertelsmeier and Mahlia Amstrong
“The BIG explosion at the end”- Jazmin Pickersgill
“When we had free time” – Lincoln Ridley
“The BOMB”- Xavier Ramanar
“Explosions”- Addison King, Finley Pleasance, Mason Prestianni, Tatianna Leite, Samuel Griffiths
Mrs van Schalkwyk and Miss Bampton would like to thank all the wonderful parent helpers who came along for the day, making this excursion a pleasant and memorable experience.
