Congratulations to Emma (Year 8) who has been selected to represent Western Australia at the National Mountain Bike Championships in Armidale, NSW.
Emma came third at the Cross Country National Series in Pemberton and was also selected to represent Western Australia as part of the State Track Cycle Team. As the track cycling championships are taking place at the same time as the mountain biking championships, Emma had to choose between the two teams and chose mountain biking.
Emma will be competing in the U15 women’s category and this will be her second National Championships. She ranked fifth at last year’s National Championships and is hoping for an even better result this year. The Middle School student has been cycling for five years and spends up to eight hours a week in training as part of a racing team.
“She trains just about every day after school,” Emma’s dad shared.
“Emma likes challenging trails; with hills and some rocks. It’s her dream to race for Australia one day and she aspires to compete at the highest professional level,” he added.
The College would like to congratulate Emma on this great achievement. We look forward to seeing where her talent will take her in the future and wish her all the best for the upcoming competition.
