Year 11 student Ethan competed with great success at the 2019 Canoe Sprint National Championships and achieved outstanding results at the Artistic Gymnastic state team trials.
Ethan won a bronze medal in the U18 four-person-kayak sprint race over 200m and placed seventh in both the U18 two-person-kayak race over 500m and the two-person-kayak race over 200m, paddling with former Swan Christian College student Chad Wiese.
After the event, Ethan’s dad Mr Ramon Andersson made sure to voice his appreciation for the role that Swan Christian College staff have played in his son’s enthusiasm for the sport.
“It is a testament to the Swan Christian College Kayak Specialist program run by Mr Ben Dallin that Ethan along with two former Swan Christian College students (Chad Wiese and Kylan Jegorow) competed at the event. Mr Dallin has uncovered some real talent and instilled passion into the boys in aspiring to take the sport to the highest level.”
Ethan had a busy week by also competing in the first part of the Gymnastics WA Men’s Artistic Gymnastic Qualification Competition. The event is one of two selection trials for the WA state team which will be selected following these events to compete at the National Championships in Melbourne in May.
The Year 11 student competed and won the Level 7 all-around competition for achieving the highest accumulated score for the six apparatus of rings, pommel horse, vault, floor, high bar and parallel bars. Ethan also won the individual rings and parallel bars apparatus.
Please join us in congratulating Ethan on his outstanding sporting achievements. We are wishing him all the best for his future endeavours.
