Guest artist Andy Quilty presented a drawing workshop on Wednesday 24 July to a selected group of Year 9 Visual Arts Students.
Students were challenged to use expressive drawing techniques to interpret still life, portraiture and landscape subject matter.
Our talented Year 9 students enjoyed the experience of drawing on large-scale format during a fast-paced workshop that was different than their usual drawing lessons. Andy Quilty is a West Australian Artist and Lecturer at UWA who has been a finalist in the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture Exhibition.
Each year, our Year 9 art students enter their portrait drawings into the Youth category of the Black Swan Prize. In 2016 and 2018 Swan Christian College has been awarded the School Prize for their consistently high level of student achievement. The $500 prize has funded this Drawing workshop, which will continue to develop the skills and inspire our young artists.
