On Friday 18 September, our Middle and Senior School students who qualified through the House Carnival, competed in the Associated & Catholic Colleges (ACC) Athletics Carnival at the State Athletics Centre. It was an early morning, with the bus leaving just after 7:30am, however, the day was magnificent weather-wise and the competition and effort throughout the day was also outstanding.
We had some outstanding individual performances throughout the day with one of those being Hamish (Year 10) jumping 1.83m in the U 16 boys High Jump. We also had four individual age champions at the end of the day. Janneke (Year 8) won the U 14 girls division, Annaleigh (Year 10) won the U 16 girls, Jayden (Year 10) won the U 16 boys and Ethan (Year 11) won the Open boys division. A huge congratulation to these individual champions.
In terms of our overall position on the day, we finished fifth out of eight schools. We had a tight tussle all day with Kolbe College where we moved back and forth with them between fourth and fifth place. In the end I feel like fifth place was where we should have ended up, considering the schools who finished above us all had Year 12 students competing, while we did not.
A huge thanks to all the teachers who helped on the day, but most importantly to the students who turned up and competed so fiercely.
