On Friday 30 October, 22 of our Year 9/10 Basketball Specialist students headed to Warwick Stadium for the annual Elite Sports Basketball Competition. There were around ten schools at the competition and many of those schools also had strong basketball programs.
We took three teams to the competition and from the very first game, we knew that it would be a challenging day. All of the boys battled manfully throughout the entire day. They showed periods of dominance throughout each of their games, however, our consistency throughout the day really let us down at key moments.
The boys learned a lot and, as the coach, I also took away some key learnings from the day. Moving into next year, the plan is to continue to build the program and keep developing the students to get to the highest level they possibly can.
