One of the final initiatives of our outgoing Wellbeing Captains has been to organise the packing and collection of Christmas shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan’s Purse). Each year group in Senior School was given the challenge to fill a shoebox or two in their Mentor Groups. The response has been fantastic.
The learning support staff filled the most boxes setting the bar very high with 12 boxes. We have been able to fill a total of 54 boxes to bless children who live in areas of need.
This year, the shoeboxes will be going to:
- Cambodia
- Solomon Islands
- Madagascar
- Malawi
- Fiji
- PNG
The cost of shipping and handling of $10 per box has been covered by a portion of the funds raised from second-hand uniform sales.
A huge thank you from the Wellbeing Captains for getting on board with this. The staff at the drop off point (Mareena Purslow Funerals Midland) asked us to pass on their thanks.
