Year 7s Conquer New Challenges

It has been a energetic, full and challenging start to the year for our Year 7s.

Week 1: Day 1 was a wonderful time for them as they were able to orientate themselves to where their classes were located and this provided a great opportunity to meet their Mentor teacher and House peers. Thank you to those who came to the parent session, it was lovely to see you there. Although, it may have s seemed quite overwhelming and unsettling at the start of the day, by the end of Week 1 students began to navigate their way across the campus to their classes, and most teething problems of device set up and what to bring to class were smoothed out.

Week 2: Students set off to camp. This was another opportunity to build relationships and connections within our community. A big thank you to the many staff members who took time to get to the students on camp. Please enjoy the photos that were taken.

Week 3: Well done to all our students who participated in the water or came out to watch at the Swimming Carnival on Wednesday: you represented your House well.
Finally at the end the week, as part of our Living Well Program, the students were involved in the Peer Support Program. During the year, groups of 12 to 15 students will meet with two to three Peer Leaders and work through a range of activities that focus on building connections and addressing a range of behaviours including the prevention of bullying. Meeting in small groups allows meaningful connections to form, assisting students with the transition to secondary school. Over a period of eight sessions students will acknowledge their strengths and learn skills to build resilience, identify how to develop, maintain and repair friendships, develop understanding of a range of behaviours including bullying and learn strategies in order to respond appropriately in a variety of situations.

Please continue to check your child has the right equipment for class and are wearing their uniform correctly. If you have any concerns please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s mentor teacher.
