Year 12 Swanonline student, Sebastian S, has been making waves in Italy since May last year. The 17-year-old’s journey began with trials through Eleven Sports Academy in Puglia; and final selection into a Serie D club in Italy, S.S.D Casarano Calcio S.R.L. Sebastian’s team has recently won their championship, making them the ‘U19 Juniores Nazionali Campioni di Puglia’. They now proceed nationally to compete for the ‘Poule Scudetto’.
The Poule Scudetto is a Serie D, mini, post league tournament organized by the Italian National league. Teams qualify by winning their group. Sebastian’s team has qualified directly and is now working towards the quarter finals round to take place on May 31st.
Sebastian’s family have been very supportive of his journey in Italy. His mother, Luciana says, “Shaun, Sebastian’s brother Cristian and I are very proud of Sebastian. He has grown up beautifully within the last year, having not only followed his dream but continued to study with Swanonline for Year 12 completion, learning a new culture, language, and completely new way of life. He has shown incredible growth for a 17-year-old.”
The Swanonline community is also very proud of Sebastian not just for his soccer achievements but the way he’s balanced this with his Year 12 studies. Head of Swanonine, Ms Marion Poynton, comments, “Sebastian has reached a high level and to us he’s a star!”
We wish Sebastian all the best on his journey in Italy and can’t wait to hear more about his successes!
