On the night of Wednesday 8 May, the Maali Mia Theatre was filled with a diverse gathering of individuals united by a common cause: the support of Christian and faith-based schools. The significant event, titled Faith in Our Future, was organized by My Christian School and hosted by Swan Christian College. Attendees included representatives from various schools, politicians, students, teachers, staff, and parents.

The evening was marked by powerful and life-changing stories shared by a range of speakers. The speakers included a brave Swan Year 12 student, Chloe C who delivered a powerful testimony about how she encountered the transformative love of God through the Christian friends and staff at Swan Christian College. Chloe received a standing ovation for her testimony. Mr Calum Kelly, a Swan parent, shared his perspective, while Swan graduate Mr Tyrone Brownley spoke about the lasting impact of his education. Politicians Ms Tania Lawrence, Member for Hasluck, and Senator Michaelia Cash also addressed the audience, emphasizing the significance of protecting a school’s freedom to preference employees who share the same Christian beliefs.

These narratives highlighted the vital role that faith-based education plays in shaping values and providing a nurturing environment for students. The event underscored the collective commitment to preserving the integrity and ethos of Christian schools, ensuring they can continue to operate in a manner consistent with their foundational beliefs. The support from the community was palpable, demonstrating a strong consensus on the need to safeguard these educational institutions’ rights.
