Blayz M, a Year 9 student at Swan Christian College, has channelled his entrepreneurial spirit into the creation of his app, Got Cakey. From a young age, Blayz explored ways to make money, whether it was doing chores for neighbours, selling toys at the park, or hosting slime birthday parties. His passion eventually led him to develop Got Cakey, an app that connects bakers with buyers, making it easier to buy and sell cakes.

Reflecting on his journey, Blayz shared, “I loved slime so much that I wanted to sell it. It started just outside of Woolies, but when we moved to a small country town, there wasn’t a demand for parties. That’s when I came up with the idea of connecting bakers and buyers, and that connection is Got Cakey.”

Blayz kept his project quiet at school until the first public capital raise, which caught the attention of students and teachers. “Most of the teachers at school have come up and asked me about it, but two teachers have been really supportive—Mr Coghlan and Mrs Harris. They’ve even asked me to talk to their younger HASS classes about young entrepreneurship.”

Got Cakey has already launched across Australia, currently in Beta mode to test the system with bakers before the official hard launch in September. The next big step for Blayz is expanding Got Cakey to the UK by the end of the year. “We’re aiming to make our first sale in the UK, and then—world domination!”

For other budding entrepreneurs, Blayz advises, “Kids come up with many ideas. Some might not be world-changing, but thinking about ways to innovate and problem-solve at a young age is great. You just have to look at society differently, look for problems, and ask yourself how you can fix that.”
