Maddyson D, a talented Year 6 student, has achieved an incredible milestone by being selected to represent WA in Cross Country. Her passion for running began early, with her first cross country race in Year 1, where she won by a significant margin. That victory sparked a love for running and sport that continues to grow.
This year, Maddyson competed in the WA State Cross Country Championships at Perry’s Paddock on 27 July. In the challenging 3km race, she secured an impressive 4th place with a time of 13:01 minutes, earning her a spot on the WA State team.
When asked how she feels about this achievement, Maddyson shared, “I feel so proud and happy! It’s such an honour to wear the WA State colours and compete with so many amazing runners. I worked really hard to get here, and it feels great to see my efforts pay off.”
Looking ahead, Maddyson is preparing for the WA State Athletics Championships in March 2025, where she aims for a podium finish in multiple events, including the 100m, 200m, 400m, and Triple Jump. Cross Country has provided her with a strong fitness foundation for the upcoming athletics season. Her ultimate goal is to represent Australia at the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane.
Congratulations to Maddyson D on this incredible achievement, and we look forward to cheering her on as she continues to chase her dreams!
