At Swan Christian College, we are proud to see two of our Year 10 students, Jake and Rhys K, thriving during their work experience with Minprovise in Welshpool. This opportunity was organised through our partnership with Worklink, which coordinates work experience programs for Year 10 students at Swan Christian College. Special thanks go to Mrs Heather Pitman of Worklink, who worked closely with Darko Basarovski, HR Manager at Minprovise, to make this valuable experience possible.
Minprovise is a specialist products, engineering and services company providing expert support to the mining, oil & gas and construction industries.
Over the past weeks, Jake and Rhys have embraced the workshop culture at Minprovise, demonstrating punctuality, enthusiasm, and a strong willingness to learn. Under the guidance of Minprovise’s experienced staff, they have gained practical experience in tasks such as welding, grinding, using the drop saw, and operating the bending machine. These hands-on activities are equipping them with vital technical skills while also boosting their confidence and readiness for the workplace.
The boys have already made impressive progress, nearing the completion of their project and preparing for the assembly phase next week, where they will apply their skills to finalise their work. Both Darko and his team have praised their adaptability and eagerness to take on new challenges.
We are deeply grateful to Mrs Heather Pitman, Darko Basarovski, and Minprovise for their commitment to providing such a meaningful opportunity for our students. Partnerships like this are essential in helping us prepare students for their future careers while also fostering a skilled workforce within the community.
We look forward to sharing more updates on Jake and Rhys’s progress as they complete their projects. Their achievements so far are a testament to their dedication, and we are excited to see how they continue to grow through this journey.
