Swan Christian College is set in a semi-rural environment in the Swan Valley, 20 minutes from the Perth city centre. Fine food and produce suppliers, vineyards and private acreage surround the extensive College grounds.
All parents who are considering Swan Christian College as a place for their children to learn and grow are welcome to sign up for one of our College tours and enjoy a guided tour of the campus. The Campus is divided up into three sub-campuses: the Senior School Campus, the Junior School Campus and the Swan Trade Training Centre.
The footprint of the Junior School is spacious and includes an Early Learning Centre with five classrooms and three outdoor play areas. In the Upper Primary area there are 17 classrooms and a Student Support classroom, specialist Music and Art rooms, two separate play areas, basketball courts and a large oval, an undercover area, Student Services and a Canteen.
Junior School students are encouraged to become capable users of technology and information using the many resources available to them in the Junior School Library. There are areas for reading, enjoyment and research. Students also make use of the library in the Maali Mia Centre for classwork.
The Senior School campus includes multi-purpose classrooms, an amphitheatre, two large ovals, outdoor basketball courts, Science Labs, fully equipped Design and Technology workshops, Administration and Student Services areas.
Maali Mia is an aboriginal name in the local Nyungar language meaning ‘meeting place of the black swan’. The Performing Arts Centre includes a state-of-the-art theatre that seats 375 and is used for productions, music and drama performances and meetings. The Centre also includes specialist music classrooms and practice rooms, and dedicated dance and drama rooms.
Our modern library is housed in the Maali Mia Centre and provides comfortable reading areas, warm natural light, spacious rooms and a relaxing atmosphere. Students can choose to study, watch educational video series, work with classmates on computer projects with Photoshop, edit media files to create a movie on Movie Maker or research a piece of music on Sibelius. The Library is also home to lively chess competitions and class debating sessions.
The College has three Mac labs in the Senior School including the specialist Media Lab in the Maali Mia Centre. This houses a green screen for filming and a sound booth for audio editing. The latest software available to Hollywood is used here for editing student movies and documentaries.
The multi-million-dollar Swan Convention and Sports Centre is ideal for sporting, academic or community events. The complex features a range of impressive facilities, including double basketball courts, conference suite, weights area and gym, indoor climbing wall, dance floor, boardroom and cafe.
The Café is situated in the Swan Centre and serves a delicious buffet style morning tea and lunch to the Senior School students every day. Café staff are industry qualified and service time gives the opportunity for our hospitality students to experience working in a real kitchen and café.
The Swan Trade Training Centre was made possible by a $5.4 million capital works grant from the Federal Government. The Centre comprises a dedicated trade training facility with 800m2 trade workshop, complete with three ICT equipped training rooms, overhead gantry crane, 5 welding bays and the latest industry equipment. The grant also allowed the construction of a purpose built commercial training kitchen and 150-seat restaurant that will open to the public in the future.
The commercial training kitchen is part of the Swan Trade Training Centre and boasts modern industry grade equipment where Senior School students complete their Certificate II in Hospitality. The students gain industry experience by cooking for functions and events that are held at the College.
Swan Christian College is situated in metropolitan Perth at the gateway to the picturesque Swan Valley. In close proximity to the Great Northern Highway/Reid Highway/Roe Highway intersection, it is very accessible to parents who wish to drive their children to and from school.
The College is also serviced by several Transperth and private buses, making it easy for students to travel to and from school via bus and train.
