Year 6 student Kasey Scanlan was nominated for the Fred Hollows Humanity Award which recognises students who demonstrate compassion, integrity and kindness towards others.

Junior School teacher Mrs Diana Trew nominated Kasey for the award to honour Kasey’s fundraising activities for the Cancer Council. Kasey and some of her friends set up a coffee, tea and cookies stand and raised $150 dollars towards the good cause. She furthermore promoted Carrie Bickmore’s “Beanies for Brain Cancer” initiative to her classmates and got some of her classmates involved in this initiative as well.

“Kasey is an outstanding student who thinks of others first and consistently displays good citizenship both in the class and outside of school,” Mrs Trew said in an interview with the local newspaper.

“She is an inspiration to her peers and younger members of the community.”

The College would like to commend Kasey for her kind heart and great enthusiasm towards these good causes. Well done Kasey!
