Austin R of Year 12 recently represented Western Australia in the Invitational U18s Round Robin at the Royal Adelaide Show, where he also competed in open events such as Underhand, Standing Block, and a championship. He achieved several impressive placings, including a few second places in finals, despite facing the challenge of chopping through heats and semi-finals before the final round.
Austin’s focus remains on improving his skills, often reviewing videos to analyse his technique and performance. His brother Ethan also competed at the event as part of the Australian U21 team, which dominated by winning all three relay races, sending New Zealand home without a win.
Next, Austin will be competing at the Perth Royal Show from Saturday 21 September, alongside his brothers Ethan and Max, his dad Brett, and his grandad Bob, who is 87 years old. Austin, who has been chopping at the show since the age of four, is excited to continue the family tradition.
