Binar Sports is a non-profit organisation that provides life opportunities and pathways for primarily Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth through basketball, education classes, employment assistance, cultural workshops and individual mentoring.
It is a support system and extended family to all involved. The clinic would be an in-school one hour clinic. There would be a minimum of three female and three male coaches, all with Working With Children Checks. The majority of our coaches are Young Indigenous Leaders who have come through the Binar program.
Part 2 of the program will be running an after-school junior domestic basketball competition in Term 2 at Brown Park, Swan View and possibly other venues close to the Midland area. In-school clinics aim to generate interest and help build the confidence of the youth to give it a try.
This will run during school term 2 on the Wednesday evenings for girls and Thursday evenings for boys in Years 5 and 6 (27th April 2022 through to 30th June 2022). Fees are $80 per player per term (includes game fees and use of a jersey on game days).
For more information about this competition and the link to register go to: https://www.binarsports.com.au/swan-junior-basketball-league-2022
Binar has set up a list of the schools with individual registration to that team so that when a player registers they can be linked with others from their school.
