On Saturday we farewelled Phnom Penh and took the long bus ride to Siam Reap (an exercise in bladder control). Siam Reap caters a lot more to tourists and so is much cleaner and has more of a fun atmosphere. And of course there are a lot more tourists!
In the evening we went to the circus and it was incredible! There were acrobatics and amazing feats of strength, balance and coordination. Phare, the organisation that runs the event, started as an arts therapy NGO. It now gives free arts training to the poorest of the poor, and supports their families. Afterwards we were able to talk to the performers and some student took photos with them as well.
We are looking forward to a few relaxing days being ‘touristy’.
