“Grandparents, like heroes, are as necessary to a child’s growth as vitamins.” – Joyce Alston
Swan Christian College warmly welcomed grandparents to their Junior School campus for their Grandparents Picnic on Tuesday 16 November. The weather was warm and ideal for a lovely BYO picnic outdoors under marquees and on the grass.
The afternoon was slightly bittersweet for children whose grandparents were not able to attend because of reasons such as border closures, and for those whose grandparents are unwell or no longer with us. But the event was held in honour of all grandparents, near or far. It served as a poignant reminder to all of us that we should cherish our loved ones today and never take them for granted.
Grandparents and grandchildren from Kindergarten to Year 6 happily picnicked together. After lunch, they moved on to the classrooms for some fun indoor activities.
A beautiful afternoon was enjoyed by all, and it was heart-warming to see smiles and hear laughter from the children and grandparents as they made some precious memories together.
