The City of Swan has reached out to Mr Hockley to thank our Year 9 students for their work during the recent Year 9 Community Service Day.

The students went on buses to the far reaches of the metro area helping both the environment and those in need. While some cleaned homes and yards of families in crises, others sorted clothes for Good Sammy’s and collected litter at St Lawrence Park.

Kathryn Petersen, Waste Education Officer for the City of Swan, told Mr Hockley that she was amazed by the students’ enthusiasm and teamwork.

“I would really like to express my deep gratitude for the enormous effort undertaken by your students. We collected over 450 kgs of material, 150kgs of which was sent to the metal merchant for recycling,” said Ms Petersen.

“Please pass on my gratitude on behalf of both myself and the City of Swan for the Swan Christian College [students] working with us to keep this bush reserve clear of rubbish,” added Ms Petersen.
