Interschool Equestrian Festival
The Saddles Plus Interschool Equestrian State Championships and Participation Competition is one of the most important youth equestrian events on the annual calendar. Up to 200 riders compete over three days of competition in the disciplines of Combined Training, Dressage, Jumping, Show Horse and Vaulting. This is the opportunity to represent their school and to endeavour to qualify to represent Western Australia at the Australian Interschool Championships.
The event is generously sponsored by Saddles Plus, a supplier of equestrian products located in Byford, and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Lotterywest.
When is the 2021 Saddles Plus Interschool Equestrian State Championships and Participation Competition?
The 2021 Saddles Plus Interschools Equestrian State Championships and Participation Competition is planned for the final week of the April school holidays – 15 to 17 April 2021. The Vaulting competition will be on a special day – Wednesday 14 April 2021.
What is required for students to compete in the competition?
Student competitors are required to be a member of Equestrian Western Australia and their horses must be registered. Depending on their desired level and or type of competition, students may also need to complete qualifications. Qualifications (where required) for 2021 are quite simple and will only involve attending, and achieving one minimum performance, at one EWA accredited competition before the close of entries.
Is the Saddles Plus Interschool Equestrian State Championships and Participation Competition open to all riders?
Yes! There are two levels of competition that riders can participate in:
- Competitor: These students can compete in the Championship classes which serve as qualifiers for the Australian Interschool Championships. Any student competing as a Competitor must be a Competitive Junior member of Equestrian Western Australia.
- Participant: This class is for students who do not wish to qualify for the National competition but still want to participate in the fun and camaraderie of an equestrian event with their horse or pony.
