Our vision at Swan Christian College is to instil a heart for service into our students. On Friday 16 August, we made a step towards achieving this vision as our Year 8 students participated in their first Community Service Day.

The day involved doing gardening for pensioners; helping the environment through tree planting, weeding and mulching; cleaning a home for a family in crisis; and gaining an appreciation for people a disability as they served alongside them at the Good Sammy’s workshop.

At the end of the day the students met to debrief and representatives of each group talked to the rest of the cohort about what they gained from the experience. The day was enjoyed by all and our students were appreciated by the community groups who hosted us.
