As I wrote earlier this week, media and public commentary in relation to Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to raise concern. Public health authorities are advising that the current risk remains low in Western Australia. However, precautionary measures are necessary to ensure the safest possible environment for our children.
As a result, effective Wednesday evening, all school-related international travel, with the exception of travel to the USA, Canada and New Zealand (providing that this travel does not go through Asia), is not to proceed until further notice. This advice from the Minister for Education in WA applies to all students and staff across all sectors in WA schools.
In response to this advice, Swan Christian College is suspending the Leavers to Leaders and STTC Philippines trips for 2020 until further notice. We will continue to monitor the situation and consider possible alternatives bearing in mind that this will continue to be a fluid situation for some time.
Please do not hesitate to contact the College should you have any concerns about our response to the virus. The Conversation has posted an article for parents on the effects of COVID-19 on children. You can find that here:
I would also point you at the following website which we are monitoring daily and which will continue to inform our practice at Swan Christian College.

In the meantime, I am reminded of the words of Paul in Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
The College will continue to communicate closely with you as COVID-19 situation continues to unfold.
