Selected Swan Christian College students participating in Swan Worklink were invited to attend a showcase run by BAE Systems and the Defense force at the RAAF Base Pearce over the recent holidays. These students joined 20 other students from Derby District High School who had flown down for the event.
It was great opportunity to meet staff from across the base including Firefighters, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and Airforce and Navy Pilots.
Students were able to get up close with the Hawk aircraft and even had the opportunity to visit the flight simulator and watch a training pilot in action.
Jorja D, Year 11 SCC student, was able to speak with others about her experience doing workplace learning for BAE Systems.
Students learnt more about career pathways and possibilities that are available just down the road in Bullsbrook.
They also found out from one of the Senior Defense staff that the jet moves made and physical aspects of being a fighter pilot were pretty accurate in Top Gun 2: Maverick!
Swan Worklink provides work experience and workplace learning services for SCC students.
BAE Systems have been an extremely supportive Host Employer for Swan Worklink students and it was a privilege to be part of this special event.
