As we rapidly approach the end of the school year, it is important to acknowledge how blessed we have been here in WA to be able to complete another school year with our students in classrooms and meeting daily with their teachers. When I look back over the year, we had just over three weeks of Learning@Home and did not miss a day of instruction. I am sure you will join me in congratulating and thanking our College staff for their dedication and commitment to our learning program.

I cannot help but think of the words of the apostle Paul when he writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Unfortunately, as I have indicated several times in recent correspondence, due to Phase 4 restrictions, we are not able to celebrate the end of year in community as we have in past years. I am extremely disappointed that this is the case because it is important to share and celebrate all the wonderful things that happen in this very special school. After all, learning is a partnership between parents, school staff and students, and rejoicing in our achievements together is a special part of community.

Phase 4 restrictions in schools require us to enact the 2 sqm distancing rule and ensure 1.5 metres between each adult with the exception of those from the same household.

This means that Celebration Night will not take place in the Perth Concert Hall and Junior School K-5 awards will be celebrated as they have been in recent assemblies. Most disappointing is the necessity to cancel our Christmas Carols evening.

The Head of Junior School, Mr Puzey, will write to you soon outlining the details of celebrations for Years K-6 while the Deputy Principal, Mr Eason, will write explaining the events that will take place for Years 7-11.

I would like to conclude by thanking you for your support and encouragement throughout this year and particularly thank you for your flexibility in responding so graciously to the changes we have had to make to ensure compliance.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in the College between now and the end of the school year.
