As we approach the end of first semester, I was pleased to see that the Premier has decided we can move into Phase 5 which means no restrictions. I am sure you, like me, hope and pray that there will be no further outbreaks in Western Australia, and we can all get on with our activities back to normal at the start of Semester 2. We are still to be advised what, if any, restrictions may continue to apply in Perth, and we will convey this information to you in the normal way when it comes through. I am often comforted by the promise in Psalm 46:1; God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
As we go into the holiday period, I am aware that many of our students are very tired and need the three-week break we have ahead. I am hoping that all of our families and our teachers will find some time to rest and recharge for Term 3 so that we can start the next semester with new energy and endeavour.
Mrs Merilyn Myers, our Inclusive Education Coordinator, will be leaving Swan Christian College at the end of this term. Meril has been a strong support for many of our students, staff and families and has done much to ensure that students have the best possible learning opportunities as they progress through our school. I am sure you will join me in wishing her well as she moves interstate to be with her husband and enjoy new challenges, or maybe retirement!
Finally, my thanks to the many parents who have sent letters or emails acknowledging our teachers for their hard work this term. Eleven weeks is a very long term and, combined with the winter ills and colds has meant that teachers need the rest these holidays will bring. We have an extremely dedicated group of teachers and support staff, and they are continually seeking to give the best possible learning experience to each child they teach. Your thanks and acknowledgement are highly valued.
So, I conclude by wishing each member of our community a happy, safe and peaceful holiday and look forward to seeing us all back together for the start of second semester.
Adrian Scott
