Johnny Comelately

On 20 and 21 September, Johnny Comelately played to an enthusiastic audience and was an outstanding success in the Maali Mia Theatre. Our Year 4 to 6 students all gave a fantastic performance and for some of them this was their theatrical debut.

Written and directed by Fenceline Theatre Company’s Director, Ms Jane Hille, Johnny Comelately is a story about a young man who has disengaged from his family, friends and school. He has been gobbled up by the lure of technology and the online world of playing games, watching YouTube clips, Instagram reels and TikTok clips.

He is a boy trapped in a virtual reality in reality. His friends must help him connect back with the real world and devise an ingenious plan to bring him back to real life.
This is a modern day parable about the consequences of allowing children to become absorbed into a world where technology takes over and they lose sight of meaningful relationships and reality.

We are so proud of them and want to acknowledge their commitment and hard work over the past few months.
