Applications open for 2018 Kimberley Trip (Year 11 and 12)

From Saturday 14 July to Saturday 21 July 2018 a team of Year 11 and 12 students will experience the rich culture of Indigenous Australia through the Kimberley Impact Trip experience.

The students will work as a team to provide tutoring to primary school aged Aboriginal children in the community of Wangatjunka. This service trip will be complemented by a range of sightseeing and culturally enlightening experiences as the students interact with local Aboriginal Elders and witness some of their ceremonies. We will also participate in an Indigenous church service to gain an appreciation of how Aborigines express their faith in God.  This trip will also help our students develop empathy for Aborigines as they make friendships, hear their stories and experience their culture. They will develop teamwork and leadership skills as they step out of their comfort zones and face new and exciting challenges. Some of the experiences will include swimming at Cable Beach in Broome, witnessing the crocodile feeding at the Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park, a tour of Geikie Gorge and an opportunity to explore the exotic Mimbi Caves.

The cost of the trip will be $1450 and it will take place in the third week of the July school holidays.

Application forms are available at Middle/Senior Student Services or by emailing lizh@scea.wa.edu.au. They need to be returned by 24 November.
