Kindergarten Students Learn About Local Police Officers

On Friday 15 November, Kindergarten had an exciting visit from local police officers, Sergeant Cooper and Constable Ommary. They came to share their important roles as helpers and service providers in our community. The officers explained that the law gives them the authority to keep the peace, prevent crime, and protect property from criminal damage. The children learned that police officers are safe people who can be called in emergencies to help them and their families.

The officers also told the students about the wide variety of vehicles they use in their work, including cars, motorbikes, horses, boats, planes, helicopters, and bicycles.

The students were full of curiosity and asked many thoughtful questions during the visit, such as:

  • What do you do?
  • What do you wear?
  • Who goes in the pod on the back of the police car?
  • Do you take ‘baddies’ to jail?

When asked about their favourite part of the visit, the children shared that they loved the sound of the police sirens! Many of our Kindergarten children were inspired by the visit and said they would love to become police officers when they grow up.

The officers also showed the children the items they wear and the police car they drive. It was a fun and educational experience that helped the children better understand the important role police officers play in our community.

Thank you to Sergeant Cooper and Constable Ommary for taking the time to visit and engage with our young learners.
