Our Year 4 students visited Kings Park on Tuesday 28 May. During this excursion, they learned about how to survive in the wild and the resources they could use. They also found out more about the wetlands and how to preserve the environment.
They were taught what to use for shelter and energy. Some students made damper, a type of bread or scone made from flour. While some were building shelters, they discovered that they should first scan the area where you want to place your shelter and then given specific instructions on how to construct it.
As part of the excursion, they found some small insects or animals in the water. This proved to be a challenge because some insects were tiny! They had fun spotting tadpoles, bugs, and even little baby animals, as it seemed to be breeding season. They discovered things they had never seen before and learned how important the wetlands are in our wonderful ecosystem.
