On Friday 23 February, the 2024 Student Leadership Team hosted an incredible event for the Year 11 cohort: Global Leadership Summit (GLS). All SCEA schools were invited to be part of this conference for students, run by students. It is designed to encourage young people to aspire to step up and lead; to be the change they want to see.
Students heard from four incredible guest speakers – Amit Khaira, Miriam Badiashile, Luke George and Kristoff Hart. Each of these speakers shared something will resonate with the Year 11 students for a long time. In amongst the activations, games, and sausage sizzle, the Year 11s were encouraged to sacrifice something for others and to take part in the 40 Hour Famine this year.
Many thanks have to go to Year 12 Student Leaders, under the direction of College Captains and Vice-Captains – Lola B, Callan P, Shelby A and Zavier P – who ran an outstanding event. Grayson and the AV team coordinated the sessions with aplomb. Here’s hoping that these leaders have inspired the Year 11s to create an even bigger and better event next year.
