The Western Australia Police Force and the Department of Education will be hosting a free information session for parents on Thursday 12 August, informing parents about Leavers programs in the South West and how to talk with their children about staying safe while travelling as a driver or passenger to Leavers celebrations.
Every year thousands of students join official celebrations in the South West. This year’s Leavers event will run from 22-25 November 2021 and due to travel restrictions associated with the global COVID-19 pandemic this year’s attendance is anticipated to be the highest to date.
The parent session will cover:
- What’s happening in the South West for Leavers
- The role WA Police play
- Ways to speak with your teenager about alcohol and other drugs
- Young drivers and their passengers
- Helpful info and tips from event partners and volunteers: The Green Team, Royal Life Saving WA, Red Frogs, Hope Community Services and the WA AIDS Council
