Lighthouse Cru is a student-led initiative dedicated to fostering a welcoming space for students to encounter Jesus Christ and grow in their faith. Founded on the principles of unity and outreach, it provides opportunities for students to connect with like-minded peers and share the message of the Gospel with others. Students like Mia G and Rachel O joined Lighthouse Cru to deepen their faith and spread the message of Jesus within their school community. We sat down with Lighthouse Leaders, Mia and Rachel, to find out more about Lighthouse Cru.
Tell us more about Lighthouse Cru and what their purpose is?
The purpose of Lighthouse Cru is to create a safe environment, unified in Christ, for all people to encounter and follow Jesus, building their desire to boldly share the Gospel!
Why did you decide to get involved with Lighthouse?
Mia – I decided to get involved in Lighthouse when I gave my life to Jesus, at the beginning of Year 11 and wanted to connect with other Christians in the school and share the Good News of Jesus with those who don’t know Him. Rachel – I got involved because I wanted to help spread Jesus in the school community.
What activities do you get up to?
On Monday, we have Lighthouse Cru, where we do a game and devotion or testimony. This space is great to ask any questions you have about Jesus and Christianity, and to connect with other Christians. On Tuesday, all the Lighthouse Leaders do a prayer walk before school, and we also have a prayer meeting open to everyone at recess on Thursdays, in the library. On Wednesday, we go to the Year 7 and 8 oval and set some games up, to focus on fellowship and connect with others.
Who can get involved?
Anyone in Years 10-12 who loves Jesus and has the desire to make Him known can get involved as a Lighthouse Leader. Absolutely anyone in the school, students and teachers, are welcome to Lighthouse Cru events, such as our Monday meetings, and Thursday prayer meetings.
In summary, Lighthouse Cru serves as a platform for students to grow spiritually, connect with peers, and share their faith with others in the school community.
If you would like to find out more or get involved please speak to our Acting Dean of Christian Living, Mr James Ellis or Chaplain, Miss Victoria Jayawardene.
