Living Well in Year 7

In the Year 7 Living Well program our over arching theme is ‘Awe and Wonder’. We have been focusing on how we can make a difference in our school community and students have been looking at ‘What is bullying?’ Students designed bunting for their classroom to spread an awareness of antibullying – Bullying No Way!

The national definition of bullying for Australian schools says:

“Bullying is an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm. It can involve an individual or a group misusing their power, or perceived power, over one or more persons who feel unable to stop it from happening.

Bullying can happen in person or online, via various digital platforms and devices and it can be obvious (overt) or hidden (covert). Bullying behaviour is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.

Bullying of any form or for any reason can have immediate, medium and long-term effects on those involved, including bystanders. Single incidents and conflict or fights between equals, whether in person or online, are not defined as bullying.”

Together we can all make a difference by our actions and words. Thank you to our Wellbeing Captains, Naomi and Aakash, who helped organise the ideas for the sessions.

General notes and reminders for Year 7

Congratulations to our Year 7 students! We are already more than halfway through the term; they have shown great courage as they have settled back into the routine of classwork. Students have also shown they can responsibly wear the right uniform on the correct day i.e their formal College uniform on non-PE days. However, a friendly reminder is still needed for them to be organised and prepared for classes, social distancing, and hygiene requirements.
