The Year 3 to Year 6 students recently took part in two fun and challenging maths incursions.
The Year 4 and Year 6 students enjoyed a Maths Fun Day with World of Maths. This is always a highlight of our mathematics calendar and it did not disappoint! As students rotated through a large variety of maths challenges, they pondered how to build bridges with as few planks as possible, scratched heads as they tried to fit irregular furniture shapes into 2 different rooms and became quite befuddled by seven separate engine pieces that were all supposed to fit inside one larger engine block! The students now know that “practice makes progress” and we are all learners and proud of it! Thank you to Mrs van Schalkwyk and World of Maths for another successful maths day!
The Year 3 and Year 5 students had an exciting maths incursion with Professor Maths. Once they had solved their first challenge they were awarded their Einstein wigs, Super Challenge jackets and funky glasses.
At times, they found the puzzles tricky but once they put their heads together they experienced some great success. The students learned that they needed to have a go, listen to each other and persist and never give up. They felt proud and inspired by each puzzle they solved. It was clear that they had a lot of fun putting their problem-solving skills to the test!
