Meet Mrs Michelle Bishop, our new Head of Inclusive Education at Swan Christian College.

Michelle leads the Inclusive Education team which supports teachers in providing education for students with additional needs within an inclusive education environment. She has a degree in Psychology and Education (Primary) with significant experience in education from Kindergarten to Year 12.  Michelle worked at the Association of Independent Schools of WA (AISWA) for nine years, her last role was as the Manager of Inclusive Education, The AISWA School Psychology Service and the CARE School Clinical Psychology Service.

Working at AISWA provided her with the opportunity to work with a wide range of schools, working with leadership teams and teachers, providing Professional Learning, coaching, and mentoring in the areas of Disability, Learning Difficulties, Gifted Education and Mental Health. Prior to working at Swan Christian College, Michelle was the Director of Wellbeing for staff and students at WA’s biggest CARE School (Curriculum And Re-engagement to Education), where she developed a systematic approach to supporting students with additional needs and mental health concerns, as well as supporting staff to understand and develop curriculum in accordance with student need.

Michelle says that she loves working with the staff at Swan Christian College as they are passionate about educating and supporting the students.  She says that she is driven by the belief that every person is fearfully and wonderfully made, and that everyone has been given gifts which are to be valued and encouraged.

When Michelle is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and feels blessed to be able to visit her grandparents every Sunday.  She volunteers with some international organisations and has worked with professionals in Ukraine who support children with disabilities who are in orphanages.

If you haven’t met Michelle Bishop yet, please join us in welcoming her to the College.
