Educate Plus is a network of dedicated professionals in the field of education advancement, with expertise spanning Admissions, Alumni & Community Relations, Fundraising, Marketing & Communications. As the exclusive organisation in Australasia for education sector professionals, Educate Plus relies heavily on the enthusiasm and commitment of volunteers who are fervently devoted to empowering individuals in advancement roles.

At Swan Christian College, our Advancement team comprises the following key members: Steven Wellbeloved, Head of Advancement, Jane Jayes, Registrar; Marie Goodchild, Community Engagement and Enrolments Officer; Cheryl Lim, Publications Officer and Kylie Bullard, Events Officer. This dynamic team assumes a wide range of responsibilities, including managing College tours, overseeing our online enrolment system known as Enrol HQ, directing Marketing and Social Media efforts, engaging parents, organising events and hospitality across the many activities hosted at SCC and maintaining alumni relations, among many other essential duties.

One noteworthy accomplishment was the team’s recent support for our Parent Christian Lifestyle committee, who advocates for the Fathering Project. Committee members, Steven Sonnerman-Smith and Mark Schorer, together with Steven Wellbeloved, organised a successful sleepover event for dads and their children, drawing the participation of over 150 individuals. Steven Sonnerman-Smith and Mark Schorer, expressed their satisfaction, highlighting the significant impact this event had on the school community. It brought fathers together in a heart-warming and unique way, fostering connections with one another and enabling them to engage in various activities with their children. This event exemplified our school’s dedication to nurturing strong, supportive relationships within our community.

Regarding the Fathering Project, it acknowledges the pivotal role fathers and father figures play in children’s lives. Extensive evidence attests to their ability to positively influence their children’s well-being, mental health, social development, and academic success. It’s evident that positive parenting, not only by fathers, is of utmost importance for students’ health and overall well-being. Positive parenting involves demonstrating love, warmth, and kindness to children, guiding them toward desired behaviours through encouragement and teaching, and fostering an environment where children thrive, receiving the powerful message that they are loved, valued, and significant.

The message of unconditional love in the Bible, as expressed in John 3:16, beautifully echoes this sentiment: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Over the past weekend, several of our students embraced this truth and responded to this love by being baptized in their local churches, serving as a powerful testimony to their faith and commitment.

It’s heart-warming to witness our community’s positive response to the call for nurturing and guiding our young people, helping them know God and embrace His overwhelming love.
