Term 3 started with a blast as the Silver Threads Brass Band entertained the entire Junior School for an hour.
It was good old-fashioned fun as kids were invited to the stage to march, can-can, conduct, dance the hokey pokey, macarena, sing, play along on percussion and generally have a wonderful time with the band that consists entirely of retirees.
The message of Act, Commit, Belong was heard loud and clear as the band had just as much fun as the kids, with most of the band in their 70’s and 80’s. With our Year 5 and Year 6 Blast Off Band about to start, it was a great way for our students to see that if you learn music when you are young you can enjoy doing it for the rest of your life. Get involved!
