Swan Christian College has always had service at the heart of its operations and one of our core purposes is to build a service heart in our students. We have established the Swan Community Outreach Facebook Group for use as a communication hub to equip our parent and staff community to help people in need, in and beyond our community. Please make sure that you answer all membership questions when you request to join the FB group otherwise we will not be able to add you to the group.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds” – Hebrews 10:24.
If you would like to help, we invite you to drop off any non-perishable goods that you are willing to donate for us to distribute to the vulnerable in and beyond our community. These can be dropped off at College Administration and we will manage them from there.
Donations
To keep each other safe, please wash your hands thoroughly before handling the goods you would like to donate. Do not deliver any donations if you have any flu-like symptoms including cough, fever, sore throat and body aches or have come in contact with a potential COVID-19 case.
Items you can donate:
- Non-perishable food
- Cleaning supplies, soap and hand sanitiser
- Toilet paper and personal hygiene items
- All donations must be hygienic and clean. If donating individual items such as individual rolls of toilet paper, please ensure that these are wrapped or put into zip-lock bags.
- Perishable food items can be requested on a need basis. Please don’t drop these off at College Administration unless prior arrangements have been made.
Need help or would like to help?
If you need something because you are in isolation, are unwell or simply cannot get what you need from the shops; or if you are aware of a neighbour or community member in need, please post your request in the Swan Community Outreach Facebook group or email the College Parent Committee at swanparentcommittee@swan.wa.edu.au.
There will be a volunteer meeting at 2:30pm tomorrow (Friday) in the Maali room at Swan Christian College. You are welcome to attend if you would like to volunteer as part of this outreach project.
Please note that we intend to continue this project for as long as possible, even if we are unable to operate as a school in the future.
