The Junior School Interhouse Eisteddfod was a terrific day with some wonderful performances.

The morning saw a session for each year group from Year 3 up to Year 6, each with some very good solo performances. All students introduced themselves and what they were playing, before presenting their music.

The day had a lovely feel throughout with some personal growth for many of the students and a marked improvement on the general standard from previous years. The adjudicator (Jeannette Teh) was positive and encouraging with feedback for each contestant.

Support from the classes attending and teachers was terrific and audiences throughout the day were encouraging and enjoyed the event.

Some of the highlights from the day were:

Year 3

Sophia J – piano

Riagan U – piano

Year 4

Eleri H – cello and piano

Mikayla C – piano

Levi R – piano

Year 5

Chase B – drums

Sienna G – vocals

Dhari K – Viola

Year 6

Indiana (Tookie) L C – flute and piano

Alyssa W – own composition on violin

Ensemble Section

An Eisteddfod is an adjudicated competition for musicians (and sometimes thespians or poets). According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, “in Medieval times, Welsh bards and minstrels would assemble together for an eisteddfod (the Welsh word for “session”) of poetry and music competition.”
