Try a Trade provides Perth students in Year 10 with an opportunity to ‘have a go’ at various skill and trade occupations. Don’t forget to invite students in Year 10 who may be interested in this event!
Outward-focused event for students not currently enrolled at Swan
The event on 26 May is an outward-focused event for students in Year 10 who are not currently enrolled at Swan Christian College.
The Try a Trade event seeks to:
- Motivate students through a fun, hands-on experience.
- Share current and honest information about future career choices.
- Encourage participants to appreciate that skill education and training offer real choices for the future.
- Allow students to meet and talk with trade professionals, apprentices, VET teachers and local industry people.
The activities are entertaining, informative and offer interested students access to some of the basic skills involved in the trades of Building and Construction, Electrotechnology and Engineering (Heavy Fabrication).
Try a Trade is held for Year 10 students over one day and participants must participate in all three trades, as the idea is to try each trade. Try a Trade is offered at no cost to students.
As places are limited, all participants must register by 21 May at scea.me/tryatrade2021.
Internal event for Swan students
There will also be an internal Try a Trade event on 25 May, focusing on current Swan Christian College students in Year 10. Your child will have received a flyer for this internal event in Mentor Group this week. Please speak to Mr King if you would like to register or head to this link for internal registrations. (Please note that students not currently enrolled at Swan must register via the other link above)
