Welcome back

It has been an absolute delight to welcome students back on campus this week. Their warmth, enthusiasm and excitement to be back has created a great positive vibe around our College. Schools are dismal places without their students and the past six weeks felt like a very long time even if it did include two weeks of holidays.

It is encouraging to see that COVID-19 infections remain low in WA and our hope is that as this continues, we will see the lifting of some of the restrictions that will then allow us to restart cocurricular activities, assemblies and possibly even camps in the future.  These are things that add fun to and enhance learning, and allow students to pursue their passions and dreams.  The teachers who work in these areas cannot wait to get started.

This is the online welcome back to school address that was watched by students on Wednesday morning:

Acting Deputy Head of Junior School

Many parents will be aware that our Deputy Head of Junior School, Mrs Stephanie Darque, will shortly leave us to begin 12 months of maternity leave.  We are all delighted for Mrs Darque as she embarks on this new family adventure, but we will miss her exceptional care and work in our Junior School.

We are fortunate that Mrs Daina Trew, an experienced educator and leader in the Junior School, has accepted the position of Acting Deputy Head of Junior School and we look forward to her leadership in this role while Mrs Darque is on leave.  I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Mrs Trew to this role and I know we will all enjoy her expertise in learning and care for our students.

As we start the return to normality there are still many people with worries and anxiety about the future.  I encourage you with the words of Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you.  I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
