Our Year 11 Outdoor Ed students recently canoed down Blackwood River in Nannup from 25 to 28 October. Mrs McPhail and Mr Dallin led the students and taught them how to plan and prepare for the trip. 10 students participated in the camp and a bus trip took them down to Nannup, accompanied by two teachers, one canoeing support instructor and one support driver.
The camp was postponed twice due to the rise of river levels and weather conditions. Students had been learning how to canoe on the Swan River in Term 2 and 3 and learned about the environment in the South West.
Starting at Neville’s Farm to Possy Road Campsite. Students had to pack all their belongings in a barrel and travel with them on the canoes to each campsite/stop. Students roughed it without showers or toilets but survived on the food they brought and each others’ company. What a fantastic week!
