Year 12 College Vice-Captain, Zavier P, has been flourishing in his basketball pursuits.
In December 2023 he participated in the State Championship U/18s Division One where Zavier and his team were the undefeated champions. Every game was huge – seven games across three days. In the Grand Final, Zavier spent all but one minute on the court. It was a nail-biting finish, double overtime and they won!
In January he was selected and flew to compete in the Dandenong Tournament in Victoria (an event that required to get to the airport straight from the school ball). This was another great competition, and Zavier’s team made it all the way through to the semi-final.
During the school holidays, he participated in the WABL 3×3 comp in the holidays and they were again the champions. This was an incredibly tough comp again, more like street ball than basketball!
He was also invited to play on the ‘D’ League team at Kalamunda Suns (this is only two levels below the Wildcats league). And now he has recently returned to playing in the U/18 Championship Division WABL competition.
Furthermore, Zavier has had some amazing character references from his coaches for his USA scouting profile. These references speak highly of who he is as a person, as well as his hard-earned talent.
Finally, Zavier is balancing these basketball commitments while he studies five ATAR subjects. It’s no wonder that he received College Honours recently, after being awarded with Sports, House and Academic Colours. Zavier truly embodies the College’s RISE values.
Congratulations on these achievements, Zavier. You make your Swan family proud.
